Zoey

During the week the Jagielski's visit, we had an unexpected visitor. A yellow lab wandered onto John and Ellen's property. At first we thought she just belonged to someone across the road, but all she had was a rusty choker collar that was too small and no tags. We looked for lost dog ads in the paper and on craigslist and I called the pound seeing if there was anyone looking for a yellow lab. No luck.

She is completely trained and is housebroken so we thought for sure she had owners. But then we started thinking she must have been dropped off because she would wander down the road, but always come back to John and Ellen's. She also had a circular wound on her back and some broken teeth, including her upper left canine.

I took her to the vet the next week to see if she had a microchip. She didn't. So then I asked the vet if she could get a wellness check and get her updated on her shots. He checked her out and said she had a pretty bad yeast infection in her left ear and that some of her teeth should be removed. He also thought she was probably 6-7 years old.

After talking to Philip we decided to keep her. She had already kinda adopted us as her new owners anyways. I just got word yesterday that the apartment will allow us to have her. I'm so excited!

We named her Zoey after a character in Percy Jackson. We both like the "y" on the end even though the character was just spelled Zoe.

The bald patch on her side is where the vet shaved her to take a look at the wound better. It is pretty much healed and her hair is finally growing in again.
